Several months ago I created my e-commerce site (that's a website that you can buy things on), because I wanted my jewelry to be available to the entire country, and the entire world for that matter. What I didn't realize is how hard it is to set up a website on your own. I can't tell you how many hours I spent writing descriptions, uploading pictures, designing the layout, and on and on... I finally got the site done and then I learned that it takes even longer to get a good ranking on the search engines. What a pain!
Then I remembered a website that a fellow-crafter/creator told me about. etsy.com. The easiest way for me to describe etsy is to say that it is similar to ebay, but it is for handmade items only. There are millions of items for sale on etsy, and the best part is, they do all of the marketing for me! Yay!!! I love that the hard part is handled for me and my brain loves it too. It was starting to hurt from thinking so hard! Now I get to JUST CREATE...
I strongly encourage you to check out etsy.com. I love the creative ideas that people have! But what really means the most to me is being able to help support other artists and crafters. As a jewelry artist, every purchase means so much to me because it allows me to stay home with my girls, work when I want to, and get to share my talents. So next time you have a purchase to make, think handmade!
